About St Mary Magdalene Church
St Mary Magdalene Church belongs to the Worldwide Anglican Communion of Churches.
It is in the Diocese of St Albans and the Welwyn Hatfield Deanery.

The building dates from 1881 and was originally part of Lord Salisbury’s estate centred around Hatfield House.
However as Welwyn Garden City expanded in the 1940’s, ‘50’s, & 60’s so the small hamlet of Hatfield Hyde was incorporated into it.
It now serves a large parish numbering over 25,000, with new house building underway.

We are in the central / catholic tradition of the Church of England (vestments, reservation etc.).
As a local church we seek to include the best of all the breadth of the Christian tradition of worship and life within our church.
All are welcome.
